Mother of Pearl Cosmetics from Perlas del Mar de Cortez ®

The Sea of Cortez Pearl Farm is proud to produce a line of clean cosmetics made with authentic mother-of-pearl powder, an ancient ingredient in Mexican cosmetics used to clear the skin of sunspots and other blemishes.

Our laboratories have refined and perfected this traditional recipe by using ingredients that are safe to use both for the skin and the environment, with a transparent and ethical formulation, and by employing responsible practices.

Unlike other commercial creams that use shells from different species without isolating the mother-of-pearl powder, ours is obtained exclusively from the oyster species from which our pearls come, Pteria sterna, also known as the Concha Nácar oyster (Mother of Pearl Oyster in spanish, also known as the Rainbow-Lipped Pearl Oyster).

The Mother of Pearl Clean Cosmetics Line includes: the Cream, the Sunscreen, and the Soap. These products contain a high concentration of mother-of-pearl powder, and some of their benefits include: attenuating scars and stretch marks; eliminating sunspots; and helping restore your skin’s natural tone.

1. Mother-of-Pearl Cream

Our Mother-of-Pearl Cream is a semi-solid cream made from natural ingredients that promotes new skin growth, keeps the skin hydrated for longer and helps restore its natural tone, making it useful for attenuating keloid scars, erasing sunspots, acne scars, and wrinkles, strengthening the skin and making it more elastic.

It can be used during the day and night without any concerns, as it does not stain the skin.

Net weight: 50 grams

Duration: With moderate use, it can last up to 6 months.

Ingredients: Coconut oil (Cocos nucifera), beeswax, olive butter (Olea europaea), Pteria sterna mother-of-pearl shell powder, almond oil (Oleum amygdalae), grape seed (Vitis vinifera), sesame oil (Sesamum indicum), Vitamin E, fragrance.

Directions for Use:

Recommended for use two to three times a day on the face, neckline, and hands, but it can be applied over the entire body if necessary.

1. Wash the skin with a mild soap—or, for best results, with our Mother-of-Pearl Soap—and pat dry.

2. Using the included ironwood applicator or clean, dry hands, take a small amount and apply it to the desired area.

3. Spread the cream by gently massaging it in with your fingertips until it is absorbed.

If this is your first time using it, start with less than you think you’ll need, gradually increasing the amount if necessary. Your skin should feel moisturized without feeling greasy; if it feels heavy, apply less.

2. Mother-of-Pearl Soap

A gentle, non-abrasive soap made with natural ingredients, perfect for sensitive skin. It doesn’t dry out the skin or irritate the eyes, and leaves the skin moisturized and soft afterwards thanks to the mother-of-pearl powder. It also enhances the effects of the Mother-of-Pearl Cream and the Sunscreen when used together.

Since it’s a rinse-off soap, it’s a favorite for people with blemishes or scars in hard-to-reach areas, or for those who aren’t used to applying creams or lotions.

Duration: If you make sure it doesn’t sit in water for too long (by using a soap dish, for example), it can last about 6 months.

Ingredients: Glycerin, Pteria sterna mother-of-pearl shell powder, honey, vitamin E, natural essence.

Directions for Use:

Recommended for daily use, before applying other creams and perfumes, or while bathing.

1. Rub onto wet skin until a light lather forms.

2. Gently massage the lather into the skin.

3. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water.

4. Dry the skin.

3. Sunscreen

Our sunscreen is a physical sunscreen: this means that tiny zinc oxide crystals remain on the skin’s surface and reflect the sun’s rays like a physical barrier.

This sets it apart from chemical sunscreens, which rely on chemicals to absorb the sun’s rays—chemicals that are often harmful to the body or the environment.

This makes it ideal for daily use, since even on cloudy days, the sun’s UV rays can damage the skin, so it’s important to always be protected.

In addition to preventing the formation of new sunspots, it promotes the regeneration of new skin and protects the skin from further damage.

Ingredients: Beeswax, Zinc Oxide, Mother-of-Pearl Shell Powder, Cold-Pressed Extra Virgin Vegetable Oils, Vitamin E.

Directions for Use:

Apply 30 minutes before sun exposure.

1. On clean, moisturized skin, use the ironwood applicator or clean, dry hands to apply a small amount of the sunscreen.

2. Spread evenly over the desired area until absorbed.

3. Reapply every 2–3 hours or after getting wet or sweating.
