Hurricane Season

by Enrique Arizmendi |

If you’ve taken our guided tour, you already know that our pearl oysters live out their natural lives, protected from predators in their nets in the sea. And that our tours take you down and through the facilities down at the pier to see the work that gets done.

So, what happens during hurricane season?

Guaymas is fortunate enough to be in a rather protected area of the Gulf, so not many hurricanes actually enter the region. However, when one does visit, we must be prepared.

Our boats may be made to be in the water, but not quite underwater, so they are hauled into land to eliminate the risk of capsizing. Everything that can be swept up in a gust of wind or destroyed by rain is stored safely until the skies are clear. And of course, we have safety protocols to ensure our oysters remain safe.

Depending on the weather conditions, guided tours may be suspended, but our store remains open to the public unless specified otherwise. That way we can ensure the safety of our clients, and of our team. If you’re unsure about the status of your tour, you can always give us a call, or shoot us a message through WhatsApp.

Thanks for reading,

B. Arizmendi
