Carlos Cabral & The Last Crest

by Douglas Diego Mc Laurin Moreno |

This is the very last masterpiece made for Us by Master Designer Carlos Cabral: a unique ultra-whitened silver pendant named "Penacho" (in honor of Emperor Motecuhzoma's famous Head-Crest-Crown or Kopilli Ketzalli ) and featuring a Natural Abalone Pearl from Baja California.

This particular piece had been commissioned to Carlos Cabral after his very first one (a larger piece featuring a larger pearl) sold quite rapidly back in 2014 (for about $3,000 USD).

Mind you, the process of selecting the adequate pearl and then making the perfect setting on these special pieces was time-consuming, but then came Carlos' time to leave this physical plane and the piece was caught in a time-vortex: we stored it for years until it was recently "rediscovered".

So, only two pieces with this design were created, both distinctively different...but equally precious. This last "Silver and Abalone Pearl Crest pendant" measures 7.0 x 4.5 x 1.0 cm (2.75 x 1.77 x 0.6 inches), with the "cone shape" pearl measuring 2.5 x 1.4 cm (0.9 x 0.6 inches). This pearl was extracted from the Abalone fishing grounds of "Isla Cedros" of Baja California in Mexico and secured by our friend Edgar. This is a 100% natural pearl from the "Red Abalone" or Haliotis rufescens.

A unique piece and fit for an Empress of Pearldom. We wanted to share this news with you because it is a very special piece for us and we hope you feel the same way.

This piece is now part of the Private Collection of a beautiful couple from Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, who have long been admirers of Mexican Pearls and Carlos Cabral's work.
